Custom Parameters | Magnum Live Chat

Custom Parameters

Overview

You will want to use the Custom Parameters feature when you want to integrate the live chat software with your email newsletter provider or online advertising campaigns.

There are two main steps:

1)  Create the custom links for each email address with your email provider.

2) Create the custom parameters in Magnum Chat.

Your email provider should allow you to place custom links within the e newsletter.  These links allow you to start updating your internal database of magnum chat by recognizing current customers on your site.

Magnum Chat can detect the URL parameters and/or Javascript variables in the links your website visitors use to get to your website and extract information from these parameters and show them in the list of visitors grid.  This is useful when you have the email addresses of your recipients in the link you send to them as you will see this email address in the visitors list.  Then you know who is browsing your website.

Here is an example image showing a custom parameter and the accompanying email address;

Elements

The following elements make up the Custom parameters editor.   You can find this under your Administration tab- Custom params.  A hard cookie is dropped on the device of the website visitor so each time that they return to your site, they will be identified on the Magnum Chat platform.
